For the past 12 years, Spanish filmmaker Palacios has been following Ali, a young man who fled the war in Somalia at the age of 14. Their encounter in a prison in Ukraine in 2012 turns their lives upside down. Shot in Ukraine, the USA, Qatar & Saudi Arabia, often by Ali himself, this film is a coming-of-age story in an uncertain world & an exploration of an unusual friendship.
Born in Madrid in 1983, she has written, directed and produced more than thirty feature films and non-fiction series for stations such as ARTE, France 3, RTVE and Al Jazeera, among others. She specializes in the Arab world and often focuses on reflecting complex social realities in her work.
