Off Screen is the designation of the Summer Course that will take place during the MDOC – Melgaço International Documentary Film Festival.

The Summer Course 2021 focuses on the general theme of the Melgaço International Documentary Festival - Identity, Memory and Border and addresses issues of First Person Narratives from audiovisual research and production projects and digital narratives. It also seeks to articulate and connect creative experiences from different sources - from filmmakers, scientific and artistic associations and researchers from universities and cultural producers from different countries and continents.

The Summer Course is an initiative of AO NORTE, through its Group of Studies of Cinema and Digital Narratives of ID + Research Institute in Design, Media and Culture in collaboration with the Municipality of Melgaço, the National Association of Researchers in Plastic Arts (ANPAP), the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC), the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) and the Jean Rouche Foundation with the International Ethnographic Film Festival of Pará (Visagem Group / PPGSA-UFPA), Recife International Ethnographic Film Festival and the International du Film Documentaire Aprés Varan Festival.
