A hill in Kyrgyzstan inhabited by men, women, some children. Smoke, birds, a waste dump like a Leviathan. Among them, a traumatized former soldier, a grieving mother, young people deprived of a future, living and facing their destiny.
Denis Gheerbrant, born in 1948 in Paris. He is the author of a dozen documentary films that are part of the continuity of Cinéma direct. Et la vie (1991), La Vie est immense et pleine de dangers (1994)1, La République Marseille (2009), have been particularly noticed. They initiate an approach and an aesthetic that have influenced Documentary Film. Co-founder, in 1992, of the association of documentary filmmakers, ADDOC, he teaches occasionally, notably at the Fémis.
Lina Tsrimova was born in Nalchik (Kabardino-Balkaria, Russia), where she studied in secondary school. She completed her first Master's degree in journalism in Moscow, then a Master's degree and a Doctorate in history at the EHESS (Paris). While completing her PhD, Lina co-wrote the film AVANT QUE LE CIEL N APPARAISSE with Denis Gheerbrant. In 2022, her feature film LA COLLINE, co-directed with Denis Gheerbrant, was programmed at ACID Cannes.
