Off Screen is the designation of the Summer Course coordinated by José da Silva Ribeiro, that will take place during the MDOC – Melgaço International Documentary Film Festival.

The Summer Course 2022 focuses on the general themes of the Melgaço International Documentary Film Festival - Identity, Memory and Border and addresses issues of Visual Anthropology / Anthropology and Cinema from research projects and audiovisual production and digital narratives. It also seeks to articulate and bring into contact creative experiences from different sources – from filmmakers, scientific and artistic networks and associations and researchers from universities and cultural producers, different countries and continents.

The Summer Course is an initiative of AO NORTE, through its Digital Film and Narrative Studies Group and the ID+ Institute for Research in Design, Media and Culture in collaboration with the Municipality of Melgaço, the National Museum of Ethnology aRed de Investigación in Audiovisual Anthropology / Research Network in Audiovisual Anthropology (RIAA), the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC) and the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) and the Recife International Festival of Ethnographic Film.
